If you're a warlike culture, your empire morale will drop as long as you aren't at war. Neutral hate contact with other races, and warlike hates peace. Culture type - each culture type has it's own morale issues - peaceful cultures like diplomacy and trade, and hate war. Increase counter intelligence to deal with itĢ. Enemy intelligence causing unrest/rebellion. Planetary engineering (I think) will allow you to terroform planets, thus increasing the base happiness of the planet.īest thing to do is find out why they're rioting. I'm sure I'll spend a lot of time with the game after that, though.Ĭlick to expand.Political Science gives you a building which improves morale. I haven't bought the full version yet, but will get it once I feel they've patched it sufficiently I also expect that the first thing I do after getting it is installing a mod. You people might also want to consider downloading Captain Kwok's balance mod, made by one of the game's beta testers it is an attemp to improve the game's balance and AI, and some other aspects of the game experience. I recommend checking the developer's site occasionally the patches include, among other things, UI and AI improvements and fixes to potentially game-breaking bugs and massive exploits, so they are worth getting. The game is rather buggy, but is being patched frequently - so far, every three weeks or so. I don't think you get to research religious or psi techs unless you choose the approriate racial traits when creating your empire. Oh, and I read having troops on a planet apparently increases it's happiness - someone on the Space Empires Universe forums suggested that 50-100 troops would have a significant effect on it. It may be necessary to research one level of one of the theoretical tech areas to be able to research the technology I don't remember which, though. IIRC, there is a technology named something like 'Political Science' that allows you to build 'Pacification Centers' (or something similar) which increase happiness. In versions earlier than 1.17, the effects of the happiness traits were reversed.
